Lacross readies for home opener against UDM

TEMPE-- Sun Devil Lacrosse opens its 2025 home slate with a midday matchup against Detroit Mercy on Saturday, February 15 at 12 p.m. AZT. There is no live stream however live stats will be available via Stat Broadcast.

In the meeting between the two teams last season, Arizona State dominated on all fronts and brought a 17-3 win back home to Tempe. The three goals allowed tied the program's record for fewest goals allowed in a single game. 
 

Sun Devil Outlook:

The Sun Devils opened the season 2-0 with wins over Niagara and Pittsburgh, both on the road. In each game, a player has seen career numbers. First, Jordyn Behar tallied a career-high six assists in the win over Niagara, and Teagan Ng followed with a career-high seven goals against Pittsburgh. 

ASU is 7-0 in home openers all-time program history and averages 18.7 goals per game in their season openers. The defense has held opponents to 9.29 goals per game. 
 

Scouting the Opponent:

Detroit Mercy opened the season with a 17-5 loss to San Diego State, however, their goalie Meredith Leavell recorded 22 saves in the contest and was named the MAC Goalie of the Week. 

Saturday marks the first time Detroit Mercy comes to Tempe. Historically, the team is 2-14 in road openers, with two road wins coming in 2009 and 2023 at Howard and Xavier, respectively. 

In 2024, UDM had a 3-8 record on the road and won three of their last four road contests.
