The Cabo Collegiate – March 1-3 (Cabo San Lucas, MX | Twin Dolphin Club)
Coach Thurmond takes his team South of the border for their next event, The Cabo Collegiate, hosted annually by Arkansas in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. A loaded field gets the benefits of staying at a luxury resort, Twin Dolphin Club, while competing in one of the nation's most competitive events. Arizona State is the two-time reigning Cabo Collegiate Team Champions and will look to defend their title once again.
The Sun Devil Men's Golf Team lead the 2025 tournament all three days and clinched the win at the Cabo Collegiate for the second year in a row. A 15-under 838 (276-279-288) gave the Maroon and Gold a five stroke cushion ahead of No. 6 Oklahoma State. Sophomore Fifa Laopakdee finished tied for first after an impressive 3-under performance complete with four birdies. He had the lowest scoring average on the par 4's out of the entire field for the duration of the tournament.
Michael Mjaaseth also finished in the top five with his 5-under 208 (68-68-72). The team had the lowest scoring average on the par 3's and 4's, the most pars (173) and the third most birdies (51) out of the 14 teams. In 2024, the Sun Devils won the 15-team Cabo Collegiate in convincing fashion.
