Sun Devil Baseball Weekly Preview - Feb. 18-23

PHOENIX -- Sun Devil Baseball came out swinging to start the season, racing to a perfect 4-0 record to get things started in front of a program record 13,232 fans over the four games. A weekend sweep of Ohio State followed by a Monday matinee win over Austin Peay has set the tone for an exciting year ahead on the diamond. 

The Sun Devil bats left their mark on the opening matchups, scoring 38 runs over the four-game stretch. The 38 runs are the third most in program history since moving to Phoenix Municipal Stadium in 2015.

Outfielder Brandon Compton led the charge offensively, clipping a .462 average to go along with two home runs, nine RBIs and eight runs scored. The NCBWA Preseason All-American (1st Team Designated Hitter) and Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List member has lived up to the expectations and then some early on.  

Arizona State will put their perfect record on the line and welcome in Oral Roberts for a three-game set at Phoenix Municipal Stadium. The series will get under way Friday night with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch, followed by a pair of day games at 1 p.m. Saturday and 12 p.m. Sunday. 

This will be the 13th matchup between the two sides, with the Sun Devils leading the all-time series 9-3. This will be the first meeting since the 2016 season, where the Sun Devils grabbed a 4-1 win on neutral ground. The series will be streaming on ESPN+ and over the airwaves on KDUS AM 1060.
