Ruff Claims Individual Title, Triathlon Places Second at Nationals

CLERMONT, FL. – On Saturday, Sun Devil Triathlon placed second in the 2024 National Championship finishing with 920 points, 22 behind Arizona who took home first place. Junior Naomi Ruff claimed the individual title after her first place finish with a time of 59:08, which was 12 seconds quicker than the next finisher. Ruff's third individual title this season solidified her as the program's fifth individual NCAA champion.
The Sun Devils had two top-five finishes following Ruff's title, as Amber Schlebusch finished fourth overall (59:38) after notching the second-best run time of the day in 17:26.
Just outside the top 10 was Zoe Mari Adam, who was ASU's third racer, placing 12th (1:00:29). After finishing 15th in last season's National Championship, the sophomore saw a jump in placing, moving up three spots.
Sidney Clement was the next finisher for ASU, finishing 18th (1:00:54). The sophomore made strides in NCAA's after she saw a 37th-place finish in the 2023 National Championship.
ASU's only freshman racer, Alice Alessandri, secured a top-20 finish (1:01:08) time and capped off the scoring on the day as the Sun Devils' fifth finisher at 20.
Running in her first National Championship, Britney Brown placed 34th with her 1:01:42 time. Faith Dasso, who had the seventh fastest swim time on Friday and quickest for ASU, was the last Sun Devil to finish with a time of 1:01:45 to end the race in 35th.
Triathlon looks ahead to National Signing Day next week where it will welcome the newest class of Sun Devils.
