Local Players Sign with Beach Volleyball

Two local beach volleyball standouts have signed with Sun Devil Beach Volleyball as Tatum Hemenway and Emma McSorely are set to join the 2026 roster.
Tatum Hemenway
5-10 | Scottsdale, Ariz. | ASU Prep
- Played club for Spiker Beach as a defender.
- Has her AA rating with CBVA.
- Placed fifth at BVCA Pairs in 2023.
- Helps coach Spiker’s younger players.
- Part of the National Honors Society.
- Her parents are Michael and Currie, and she has one brother named Ty.
Emma McSorley
5-10 | Scottsdale, Ariz. | Notre Dame Preparatory
- Played club for Dune as a defender.
- At Notre Dame Prep, played both indoor and beach volleyball.
- 2024 Arizona Pairs State Champion.
- AZ Republic Beach Volleyball Player of the Year.
- Two-time All-Section First Team for beach volleyball.
- Two-time All-Region First Team and All-Division First Team for indoor volleyball.
- Has been on the Dean’s List her whole time in high school.
- Her parents are Leanne and Marty and she has two younger siblings (Owen and Maggie).
- Her mom Leanne (then Schuester) played indoor volleyball for ASU and went on to play professional beach volleyball. Her name is across the ASU volleyball record books, currently 10th for career digs and ninth for career aces. She’s also one of 21 Sun Devils to earn over 1,000 career kills. In 1993, she earned All-Pac-10 honors.
- Her dad Marty played professional hockey in the NHL for 17 years.
