Gym Devils Earn First Big 12 Win at Iowa State

AMES, Iowa – Behind a dynamic floor rotation, Sun Devil Gymnastics earned its first Big 12 win by scoring a season-high 195.950 to beat Iowa State's 195.825 at Hilton Coliseum on Friday night.

Additionally, Lee's 9.775 on bars was a personal high on that event.

To start the meet, the Gym Devils built scores down the lineup on bars. Four of the five scores that counted were a 9.800 or better, getting ASU over a 49.000 for the third-straight meet. Clark's 9.850 led the way in scoring, followed by a 9.825 by Smith. Mangahas and White added 9.800s.
Rotation Two: Vault, 48.600
The team took a step back in the second rotation on vault, with the highest score being a 9.775 from junior Caroline Lichtman. That was a career high for her. The next best score was a 9.750 from freshman Halle Braaflat, also a personal best.
Rotation Three: Floor, 49.250
The best event total of the season across all four events is the 49.250 scored on floor in this meet. All five scores counted were a 9.800 or better, led by White's 9.925, a season high for her across all events. Smith added a 9.875, and Lilia Purler set a career high with a 9.850. The two 9.800s came from Clark and Braaflat.
Rotation Four: Beam, 49.050
Wrapping up the meet, three Sun Devils scored a 9.875 to push the team to victory in a close meet. Lee led off with a 9.875 and Clark and White ended the lineup with the same score.
