Cam Skattebo Finishes Fifth in Heisman Trophy Voting
The Sun Devil running back was a candidate for college football's most prestigious award.

NEW YORK - Sun Devil senior running back Cam Skattebo finished fifth in the voting for the 2024 Heisman Trophy.
The top ten finishers in the voting were announced on The Top Ten Heisman Trophy Finalists Show Presented by Nissan on Thursday, December 9, 2024 and the results of the voting revealed on December 14. Skattebo is the highest finishing Sun Devil since legendary quarterback Jake Plummer was third in 1996. Three members of the selection committee voted him in first place. He also received 18 second-place and 125 third-place votes coming from each region represetented, a sign of the respect he gained nationally.
The 2024 Heisman finalists included Colorado wide receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter, Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel and Miami Quarterback Cam Ward. Hunter received the honor at the Heisman ceremony held in New York City with Skattebo narrowly missing out on an invite.

- He now has five game this season with 75+ rush yards in first half and three in a row. He is just the second Arizona State player to have 75+ rush yards and 1+ rush TDs in three consecutive first halves since at least 2007 (Eno Benjamin - 2018)
- Skattebo's 22 total TDs and 19 rushing TDs both match program records
- His 140 first half yards against Iowa State were the most in a half in his career. It was also the first time a running back ran for over 100 yards in the Big 12 Championship Game since Adrian Peterson for Oklahoma in 2004. It was the most in a half in the championship game since Kansas State's Darren Sproles in 2003
- Skattebo became the first FBS player with 75+ rush yards and 2+ rush TDs in three consecutive first halves since Toledo's Bryant Koback in November 2021
Championship-Worthy Performance
- Cam Skattebo was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2024 Big 12 Championship Game.
- Skattebo accounted for 18 points and three touchdowns, both tying the record for the most at the Big 12 Championship. Last was in 2008 by both Chris Brown and Mossis Madu of Oklahoma.
- He is just fifth player with 150+ yards and 2+ rush TDs in Big 12 CC and first since Adrian Peterson in 2004.

Skattebo ran for two more touchdowns against Iowa State, giving him eight touchdowns on the ground over his past three games. He now has 19 rushing touchdowns on the season, tied for the most in program history matching Woody Green's historic 1972 season. He is one rushing touchdown shy of becoming the only Sun Devil to reach 20 touchdowns on the ground in a year.

Cam Skattebo eclipsed 4,000 rushing yards in his career in the win over Arizona earlier this year. He now sits at 4,244 career rushing yards, ranking 19th among active running back at any level of college football. Skattebo has the seventh-most career rushing yards of any running back playing at the FBS level. His 5,665 all-purpose yards are the eighth-most among running backs at any level of college football.
Big 12 First Team All-Conference
Cam Skattebo was one of two running backs named to the Big 12 All-Conference First Team. He is the first Sun Devil running back to earn all-conference distinction since Eno Benjamin in 2019. He is only the eighth Sun Devil to land on a first team since ASU entered the Pac-10 in 1978.
National Player of the Week
Cam Skattebo has been named AP National Offensive Player of the Week twice, including after his performance in the win over Iowa State in the Big 12 Championship. He also earned the distinction following a 232-yard outing in the win over Mississippi State. The Doak Walker Award tabbed Skattebo as their national running back of the week three times, which is the second-most of any running back nationally.
