TERRITORIAL CUP WIN RECAP /// REQUEST BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP TICKETS

TEMPE - Sun Devil Football running back Cam Skattebo added to his trophy case after another brilliant performance on Saturday.

In Arizona State's 49-7 road win over Arizona, Skattebo was nearly unstoppable on his way to rushing for 177 yards and three touchdowns against the Wildcats. Skattebo was already named a Semifinalist for the Doak Walker and Maxwell Awards earlier in the year and is a strong candidate for the Heisman Trophy as he continues to add to a decorated 2024 campaign. Because of his efforts in the Territorial Cup victory, Skattebo received Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors. He has now won the award five times this season and has been recognized more than any other Power 4 conference player.

In the Kenny Dillingham era, a Sun Devil has now won a conference player of the week award 16 times. ASU leads the Big 12 and is third nationally with 12 conference player of the week selections this season. That is four more than the second-highest team in the league (Colorado). In addition to the weekly league recognition, a Sun Devil has been tabbed a National Player of the Week ten times this year.

Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week - Cam Skattebo
Sun Devil Football running back Cam Skattebo was named the Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Week. It is the sixth time a Sun Devil has won the award this year. Skattebo has accounted for five of them, with wide receiver Jordyn Tyson responsible for the other recognition. Arizona State has claimed the most Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week selections of any team in the league.

Yes He Cam
Four-time Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week and Heisman Trophy candidate Cam Skattebo delivered yet another signature performance to end an incredible 2024 regular season campaign. In Arizona State's 49-7 win over Arizona in Tucson, Skattebo was absolutely dominant. He is a big reason why the Sun Devils are headed to the Big 12 Championship game. Skattebo ran for 177 yards and three touchdowns in three quarters on only 21 carries.

Starting Strong
ASU jumped out to a 35-0 halftime lead thanks in large part to the efforts of Skattebo. In the first half alone, he had three touchdowns and 113 yards at halftime. This is the second straight game in which he ran for three touchdowns in the first half. Skattebo is the first Big 12 player to accomplish the feat since Taurean Henderson (Texas Tech) did it on Sept. 17 and Sept. 24 in 2005. He is only the seventh FBS player to accomplish the feat since 2008, joining a list of names that includes Lamar Jackson (Louisville), Melvin Gordon III (Wisconsin), and LeSean McCoy (Pittsburgh).

Making History
Skattebo's 1,398 rushing yards this season put him 6th on Arizona State's all-time single-season rushing yards lists. He is only 30 yards shy of a spot in the Top-5 with the Big 12 Championship remaining and a bowl game ahead. Skattebo needs 245 rushing yards to pass Eno Benjamin's single-season program record set in 2018.

Keeping it 100
Skattebo delivered his ninth game going over 100 yards in his career and second time doing it against Arizona. He finishes his Sun Devil career with 285 rushing yards in two games against the Wildcats.

Skattebo was the highest graded running back in the Big 12 for the week (86.1) for overall offense player (top two were also Sun Devils - Jordyn Tyson and Emmit Bohle). He was also the third highest graded running back in the nation.

Quotables
Kenny Dillingham on Cam Skattebo's campaign
"To see Cam's name on the list of the top 10 for the Heisman is awesome," Coach Dillingham reflected. "I think he's number two or something in the entire country in yards from scrimmage right now, which is remarkable."

"When you talk about the Heisman trophy, you talk about impact," Dillingham added. "I think it's the most impactful player or the best player. I don't know exactly what the clear definition is, it goes back and forth a little bit, but I don't know of a player who makes a bigger impact on a program."

"He took a team that won three games and now they've won 10 that takes on his exact identity of him as a person which is: passionate, intense, physical, tough," Dillingham continued. "The team's taken on that identity as a program, which has completely changed the structure of the program. He's put up unreal real stats. I think it's going to be one of 100 people in the history of college football to put up 2,000 yards from scrimmage. What he's accomplished is something special and I think he should be talked about for that. Whether he should win it or not, there's two guys that are unbelievable right now. Whether he should be in the conversation, I don't think that's a question."
