Lindsay Looney Named NCAA Top 10 Award Recipient

INDIANAPOLIS – Lindsay Looney is one of 10 former student-athletes to be selected as recipients of the NCAA Top 10 award and will be honored in January. It marks the second-consecutive year a Sun Devil has received the honor. In 2023, Turner Washington received the honor for his excellence in track & field.
Looney is a six-time All-American and a three-time Pac-12 champion. In her last season in Tempe, she won a Pac-12 title in the 200y butterfly, setting the school record in 1:52.14, and defended her 500y freestyle title, winning back-to-back conference championships in the event. The Texas native is a six-time All-American, earning the honor in the 200 fly for three-straight seasons, and in the 500 freestyle and the 800 free relay her sophomore year.
The 2024 Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year also competed at the 2024 Olympic swim trials this past summer and was named to the 2024-25 USA Swimming National Team for the second-consecutive year. In addition, Looney was a recipient of the Elite 90 award at NCAA Championships this past March, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating at the finals site for each NCAA Championship. She also received the Bill Kajikawa award her senior season for displaying academic excellence, athletic achievement, leadership and service in their community.
The NCAA award recognizes former student-athletes for their exceptional athletic and academic achievements, as well as their contributions to their campuses and communities. The NCAA's Top 10 awardees were selected by the NCAA Honors Committee, composed of representatives from NCAA member schools and conferences, as well as nationally distinguished citizens, including past awardees. The awardees will be celebrated Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025 at the NCAA Convention Welcome and Awards presentation in Nashville. For a full list of winners the NCAA release can be found here.
