Itziar Almeda named MPSF Newcomer of the Week

SEATTLE, Wash. – As announced by the MPSF conference earlier this afternoon, Itziar Almeda was named Newcomer of the week for the second time this season. This is the third weekly conference honor for the Sun Devils this season.
This award comes off an impressive 8-point performance last weekend against No. 5 Cal. Almeda was an integral part in keeping the Sun Devils in the game with six goals and two assists. She also added two steals and two field blocks to her weekend statistics.
Almeda is currently on a 14-game point scoring streak boasting 54 points (39G, 15A) in that span. She leads all freshmen in goals, assists, and points and leads the team in assists (33). She sits in fifth for goals scored, fourth for points, and sixth for assists in the MPSF.
Itziar Almeda and the Sun Devils are back in action this Saturday as they travel to California to compete against USC at 1 p.m. at Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
