Sun Devil Outlook
No. 14 Arizona State (11-1, 0-0 Big 12)
- The Sun Devils played their first matches at home last weekend, hosting the Webb-Burbridge Invitational and going 3-0. They swept all three teams and have won four in a row, all in three sets.
- Graduate setter Argentina Ung was named the Webb-Burbridge Invitational MVP, while graduate middle blocker Savannah Kjolhede and graduate libero Mary Shroll were on the all-tournament team.
- The Sun Devils have had eight sweeps his season and are 10-0 when winning the first set.
- Shroll has been a dominant force in the back row this season for ASU. She leads the team in digs with 191, the only player in triple digits so far. She has notched double-digit digs in every match and has a streak of 14 in a row dating back to last season, which is the longest such streak of her career. Additionally, she has had three matches with 20 or more digs, one more already than last year.
- Both starting outside hitters for Arizona State have surpassed 100 kills on the year. Senior Geli Cyr leads the charge with 126, while graduate Shania Cromartie has 104.
- Ung has paced the offense this season as the starting setter. She is exactly 100 assists away from 3,000 career assists. She also has been productive offensively, currently averaging 1.13 kills per set. Additionally, she is tied for the team high in aces with 14, knotted up with redshirt-freshman Brynn Covell.
- ASU assistant coach Preslie Anderson has ties to both teams this weekend. She was a volunteer assistant with TCU in 2022 and she played for Baylor for two seasons from 2020-21.
No. 22 TCU (8-2, 0-0 Big 12)
- The Horned Frogs have played a tough non-conference schedule, facing three ranked teams. They picked up a win over then-No. 18 Minnesota in five sets.
- In 2023, TCU went 17-15 and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. TCU beat Florida State in the first round before falling to Arkansas in the second.
- This will be the first meeting in program history between these two programs.
No. 19 Baylor (8-3, 0-0 Big 12)
- The Bears have been home for all but one match this season, 8-2 at home. Like TCU, Baylor also beat then-No. 18 Minnesota this season, also winning in five sets.
- Last season, Baylor had a 17-13 record. Baylor made the NCAA Tournament, advancing to the second round, ending with a loss to Kentucky.
- The Bears lead in the all-time series with the Sun Devils 2-1. They last played in 2022 when ASU fell in straight sets to then-No. 15 Baylor.
