Stanford, Calif. – Shay Addison recorded the highest-ranked win of his career on Sunday at Maples Pavilion, defeating WrestleStat's No. 29 Tye Monteiro, but the Sun Devils couldn't close the deal at No. 17 Stanford, falling to the Cardinal 24-18.
Trailing 7-6 with just over a minute remaining in his match, the 184-pounder Addison scored big on four near-fall points to upend Monteiro and win 10-6. It was his first top-30 win of his career, per WrestleStat.
Outside of Addison, the Sun Devils picked up bonus-point wins via Nicco Ruiz and Cohlton Schultz. A six-point Stanford forfeit at 125 gave the Sun Devils an 18-12 lead, their largest of the bout, but the Cardinal rallied to win the final three matchups, tacking on 12 unanswered points to steal the win.
It snapped the Sun Devils' four-match winning streak against the Cardinal and served as their first loss at Maples Pavilion in six years.

Made for March
The Sun Devils routinely make their living in the postseason. After a hot finish to their regular season in the spring, they stormed into the Gill Coliseum and captured yet another Pac-12 Championship title at the conference's final championships. It marked the 24th conference title in team history, the sixth under Jones' guidance and the fourth in the past five seasons.
With eight qualifiers competing at the NCAA Championships, the Sun Devils saw four individuals reach the podium. Figueroa etched his name in Sun Devil history with a finals win against Iowa's Drake Ayala, slamming the door on an unbelievable run in Kansas City in which he went 5-0 and dethroned two top-three seeds.
The 2023-24 season marked the team's fourth consecutive top-seven finish at the national tournament, while also earning four All-Americans for the fourth straight year.
