Hawaii Done, Next Up for Men's Golf: Defend Cabo Title in March

The second-ranked Sun Devil men's golf team finished eighth in the 20-team Amer Ari Intercollegiate at the Mauni Lani Golf Club North Course that concluded Saturday.

ASU finished at 45-under 819 (264-281-274). Senior Preston Summerhays shot 13-under 203 (69-66-68) and tied for 13th, while freshman Peer Wernicke (65-71-68) and junior Michael Mjaaseth (64-73-67) tied for 16th at 12-under 204.

The Sun Devils played without 2024 U.S. Amateur champion and three-time All-American Josele Ballester, who earned an exemption into this weekend's Phoenix Open.

Next up for ASU is the Cabo Collegiate March 2-4 in Cabo San Lucas. Last year, just about a week removed from its worst tournament in a long time, the Sun Devils won the 15-team Cabo Collegiate at the Twin Dolphin Golf Club in convincing fashion. ASU won by nine strokes, and did it shooting 11-under 273 in the final round, as only two other teams were under par in the final 18. Three Sun Devils finished in the top-10, led by Preston Summerhays who shot an 8-under 205 and finished third.
