Tempe, Ariz. – Christina Wombacher, the Sun Devils' Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator, has been named to the NCAA Division I Sports Oversight Committee, a team of 29 members tasked with molding the future rules and regulations in college sports.

Wombacher joins a committee made up of conference commissioners, athletics directors and senior-level administrators from schools around the country.

"I am honored to join the NCAA Sports Oversight Committee and contribute to shaping the future of collegiate athletics," Wombacher said. "This is an incredible opportunity to work alongside colleagues committed to supporting the student athlete experience and championships."

A former student-athlete at Yavapai College and Boise State, Wombacher's professional career in Division I athletics has spanned more than two decades. Wombacher works closely with all Sun Devils sports teams, head coaches and sport administrators, while serving as sport administrator for Lacrosse, Women's Basketball, Volleyball and Softball, focusing on student-athlete experience and department internal operations.

She has recently served as a member of the NCAA Competition Oversight Committee (2021-24) and Transfer Waiver Advisory Panel (2023-24).

Wombacher was previously an Associate Athletic Director for the Sun Devils since August of 2019 and has played an integral role in both the department's Senior Management Team and a staff resource to the Vice President for University Athletics since 2015.

Prior to working in administration, Wombacher spent 14 years with Sun Devil Women's Basketball primarily as Director of Operations. She earned her master's degree in Higher and Postsecondary Education from ASU and her bachelor's in Kinesiology/Physical Education with Emphasis in Exercise Science from Boise State University.

About the Division I Sports Oversight Committee

The Sports Oversight Committee has oversight responsibility, in sports other than football and men's and women's basketball, of nonacademic operating bylaws (e.g., recruiting, playing and practice seasons) that impact the overall student-athlete intercollegiate experience as well as regular season and championships administration including supervision of qualification and/or selection procedures for Division I and National Collegiate Championships.  This oversight includes studying issues impacting sport ecosystems in addition to making policy or legislative recommendations in areas not designated as autonomy.  The Sports Oversight Committee will review recommendations from sports committees who will report directly to the Sports Oversight Committee and process other issues related to the administration of those championships.
